Dr. Fatima Al-Hassan

The Bronx has one of the lowest dermatologist-to-resident ratios in all of New York City, and the majority of its population has skin tones that most dermatology textbooks barely cover. Dr. Al-Hassan chose to practice here because of that gap. Her dermatopathology fellowship at NYU Langone gave her the ability to read her own biopsy slides, which means faster and more accurate diagnoses for conditions like psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and suspicious moles on darker skin. She also runs the cosmetic dermatology program, including Botox and fillers, for patients who want those services from someone who understands melanin-rich skin.
