(646) 741-2111

The dermatology department at Moses Medical Center addresses the full range of skin, hair, and nail conditions affecting patients of all ages and skin types. Our dermatologists are experienced in diagnosing and treating medical conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne, as well as performing skin cancer screenings and mole evaluations. We understand that skin conditions are not merely cosmetic concerns, as they can significantly impact quality of life, self-confidence, and overall health. Our approach combines clinical expertise with genuine sensitivity to the personal impact of dermatological conditions.

We serve the diverse Bronx community, and our team has extensive experience treating conditions across all skin tones, including hyperpigmentation, keloid scarring, and conditions that present differently on darker skin. This expertise matters because accurate diagnosis depends on recognizing how conditions manifest across the full spectrum of skin types. We stay current with the latest treatments, including biologic therapies for moderate-to-severe psoriasis and targeted approaches for persistent acne that hasn’t responded to over-the-counter treatments.

Whether you need a routine skin check, treatment for a chronic condition, or evaluation of a new or changing mole, our dermatologists provide thorough, evidence-based care. We take the time to educate patients about their conditions, discuss all available treatment options, and develop plans that fit your lifestyle. Referrals are accepted, and many concerns can be addressed during a single visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What skin conditions do you treat?
We treat a wide range of skin conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, fungal infections, rashes, skin allergies, warts, moles, suspicious skin lesions, hair loss, and hyperpigmentation. We also perform skin cancer screenings and provide cosmetic dermatology consultations.
Do I need a referral to see a dermatologist?
Referral requirements depend on your insurance plan. Most Medicaid and HMO plans require a referral from your primary care provider. If you are a patient at Moses Medical, your primary care doctor can submit a referral right away and often schedule you the same week. PPO plans typically do not require a referral.
What should I expect during a skin exam?
During a full skin exam, your dermatologist will visually inspect your skin from head to toe, looking for any unusual moles, growths, or changes. The exam typically takes 15 to 20 minutes. You may be asked to undress to a gown so the doctor can check areas not normally exposed to the sun. If anything looks concerning, a biopsy may be recommended.
How often should I have a skin cancer screening?
We recommend an annual skin cancer screening for all adults, especially if you have a family history of skin cancer, a history of sunburns, many moles, or fair skin. If you notice a new mole, a mole that has changed in size, shape, or color, or a sore that does not heal, schedule an appointment right away.
