About

Dr. Emmanuel Okafor is a board-certified psychiatrist who understands that mental health care must be culturally sensitive to be truly effective. Trained at the University of Ibadan, BronxCare, and Columbia, he specializes in mood disorders, anxiety, trauma-related conditions, and the intersection of mental and physical health in underserved populations. Speaking English, French, and Haitian Creole, Dr. Okafor removes one of the biggest barriers to behavioral health care in the Bronx — the ability to express your innermost struggles in your own language. He takes a collaborative approach to treatment, blending medication management with supportive therapy and always involving patients in the decisions that shape their recovery.
