Moses Medical is in-network for the 1199SEIU National Benefit Fund. We are at 871B Westchester Ave in the Bronx, a short trip from Lincoln Medical Center, Bronx-Lebanon, and the nursing facilities along the Grand Concourse. We schedule early mornings and late afternoons because we know your shifts do not end at 5 PM.

What Your Union Benefits Cover

Your National Benefit Fund card gets you into the following services at our office:

• Primary care for annual physicals, sick visits, and managing conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure
• Internal medicine for more involved medical issues that need ongoing attention
• Cardiology for heart screenings and blood pressure monitoring
• Dermatology for skin checks, rashes, and conditions that come with frequent glove use and handwashing
• Behavioral health for therapy and counseling. The benefit is there. Use it when you need it.
• Pain management for back pain, joint problems, and repetitive strain from lifting and standing
• Podiatry for heel pain, plantar fasciitis, and the foot problems that come with 12-hour shifts on hard floors
• Ophthalmology for medical eye exams, glaucoma screening, and diabetic eye checks
• Women’s health for Pap smears, breast exams, and reproductive care
• Lab services for blood work and diagnostics, done on-site so you do not need a separate trip
• Radiology for X-rays and imaging

Everything is in one building. You can see your primary care doctor, get labs drawn, and follow up with a specialist without taking a second day off.

Setting Up Your First Visit

1. Find your benefit tier. The National Benefit Fund has different tiers based on your employer and job classification. Call the Fund at 1-646-473-9200 or check 1199seiubenefits.org to see which tier you are on.
2. Bring your benefit card and a photo ID. We verify your coverage at the front desk.
3. Ask about referrals. Some tiers require a referral from your primary care doctor before you see a specialist. If you need one, we can write it the same day.
4. Know your copay. Copays depend on your tier and the type of visit. We will tell you the amount before your appointment starts.

Benefits Healthcare Workers Tend to Skip

You know the drill. You tell your patients to follow up, get their screenings, take care of themselves. Then you put off your own appointments for months.

Foot care. If you stand for most of your shift, your feet are absorbing that. Podiatry visits for plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, and diabetic foot checks are covered under your benefit.

Annual blood work. Your lab benefits cover routine panels at no extra cost. A yearly draw checks cholesterol, blood sugar, and thyroid levels.

Counseling. Healthcare work wears on you. The National Benefit Fund covers behavioral health visits. Plenty of your colleagues use this benefit.

Eye exams. Ophthalmology visits are covered for medical conditions. If you have diabetes or a family history of glaucoma, you should be getting checked annually.
